Hosting Telecom is a Local Internet Registry

A Local Internet Registry (LIR) is an organisation that assigns IP address space to Internet users — service providers and their customers — and provides the registration services that go with it.

As an LIR, we are a member of the RIPE NCC, one of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). The RIRs allocate Internet number resources and carry out the registration and coordination work that keeps the Internet running worldwide.

Network and connectivity

We run powerful servers and high-capacity links. Your data is backed up every day and, should anything go wrong, restored from a dedicated backup server — which is why our services have a reputation for reliability.

Our servers run FreeBSD/UNIX, operating systems with a proven record as some of the most reliable and stable available. This set-up lets us offer services with virtually no limits.

Our servers are installed in our own network nodes in the United Kingdom. The network exchanges traffic directly with all the major providers in Europe and the US over a 400 Gbps connection to an Internet exchange point.

Data centre

Our equipment is housed on a data centre campus in London.

The servers sit on a fully secured site with multi-level access control. Your equipment keeps running without interruption thanks to:

• round-the-clock automated equipment monitoring
• 24/7 technical support
• an industrial automatic powder fire-suppression system

The data centre is connected to an industrial-grade backup power system, which includes:

• power from two independent three-phase feeds
• industrial UPS systems that can power the entire data centre on their own for up to an hour and a half
• an auto-start diesel generator that keeps the site running independently of the mains grid for practically unlimited periods

Climate control keeps the data centre within the conditions the equipment needs to run without interruption.
