How to open the cPanel hosting control panel: from your control panel without a password, or at the cPanel address with the username and password from your email. What to do if you have lost your password or can’t log in.
Contents
cPanel is the hosting control panel. In it you create websites, mailboxes and databases, install WordPress and make backups. You can log in to it from your control panel or at the cPanel address.
From your control panel — no password needed
In your control panel, open your hosting account and choose the option to log in to cPanel. cPanel opens without asking for a username or password. If there is no such option because the account is waiting for payment, you can still find it in the account’s menu once the payment has gone through.
Your cPanel username is shown with the hosting account, under its name. You can copy it with the button next to it or from the account’s menu.
At the cPanel address — with a username and password
Your username and password arrive in the “Hosting access” email once your hosting has been set up. The cPanel address is in the same email, and your hosting account in the control panel shows it next to the server name. Follow the link to the cPanel login page and enter the username and password from the email.
Once your domain points to your hosting, cPanel also opens at https://cpanel.your-domain.co.uk and https://your-domain.co.uk:2083.
If you have lost your password
The cPanel password is sent only once, in the “Hosting access” email, and is not shown again. If you no longer have the email, log in to cPanel from your control panel and set a new password: in cPanel, go to Preferences → Password & Security.
Your cPanel password and your control panel password are separate: changing one does not change the other.
If you can’t log in
- There is no option to log in to cPanel. Your hosting has most likely been suspended for non-payment, and access to cPanel is closed until it is paid: Website blocked: Account Suspended page.
- The account is marked “panel suspended”. If your payments are up to date, contact our support team through the contact form and we will check why it was suspended.
- Your hosting is paid for, but the access email hasn’t arrived. The account is created after payment — by the next working day at the latest. The email goes to the contact addresses on your account; check your spam folder too.
- cPanel says the username or password is wrong. Check your keyboard layout, and that you entered the username without the domain. We recommend logging in to cPanel from your control panel without a password and setting a new one.
