ionCube Loader is already installed for every PHP version. What to do if an encoded script won’t run.
Many paid scripts and modules — online shops, billing systems, CMS extensions — are supplied encoded with ionCube. To run them you need the ionCube Loader. On our shared hosting it is already installed for every PHP version, from 7.3 to 8.5, so there is nothing to enable.
Choose the right PHP version
An encoded script only runs on the PHP versions its developer encoded it for. Check the script’s description to see which versions it supports, and choose one of them for your domain: PHP version for your site.
How to check that the loader is working
In your site’s folder, create a file called info.php containing the single line <?php phpinfo(); and open it in your browser. Look for “with the ionCube PHP Loader” on the page — that is the loader. Then be sure to delete the file: it shows your server settings to everyone.
Common errors
- “…encoded by the ionCube Encoder for PHP 7.4 and cannot run under PHP 8.2” — your site is on the wrong PHP version. Choose the one named in the message.
- “…requires a newer version of the ionCube Loader” — contact our support team and we will update the loader.
The old Zend Optimizer and Zend Guard Loader only worked with PHP 5 and are no longer needed. If your script is encoded with them, ask its developer for a new version.
